The Chambers of Bradford-on-Avon, Melksham, Trowbridge, Warminster and Westbury
recognised the need to become more professional and to provide more services and benefits to their
members, and this became possible with the formation of the Association in March 1994.
In the following years the Chambers of Devizes and Frome joined the Association.
As a result it was decided that the name of the Association be changed to that of the
Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce. Since then the Chambers of Calne, Chippenham,
Corsham, Cricklade, Malmesbury, Marlborough, Mere, Salisbury, Tidworth and
Wootton Bassett have all affiliated to the Association, bringing the overall membership
to just approaching 1500 businesses and organisations.
